Getting Situated
Canal Street is the dividing street between the French Quarter and the Central Business District (CBD). The French Quarter is bounded by the Mississippi, N. Rampart, and Esplanade Avenue. Note that streets change names as they cross Canal (i.e. Camp Street in the CBD becomes Chartres in the FQ). The French Quarter is relatively safe, especially if you stay in commercial areas. And if someone asks, “I bet I can tell you where you got them shoes at,” answer “On my feet” and keep going!
